Many of us continue to search for our purpose like it is a genetic trait we are trying to find and uncover. It’s like chasing an elusive fairy that keeps slipping through our fingertips again and again and this fairy’s name is “purpose” and it will surely make our lives complete. We JUST want to find that missing puzzle piece we have been searching for already and we better figure it out quick or it will all be wasted!
Then, we FINALLY find our purpose; “I want to be a designer!”, “I want to get married!”, “I want to have kids!”, “I want to retire!” and then we achieve those dreams and we feel great. At first. Then, after a while, the high fades off. There are no unicorns prancing around, the sky didn’t open up to us providing all of the clarity we hoped for. Maybe that wasn’t our purpose after all? Back to searching…
What if I told you that “finding your purpose” is just realizing you are already living it and that you are already 100% worthy and complete. That your purpose is simply to live. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Living your life (HOWEVER you decide) is the FINISH line of perfection, not the beginning. So you are obviously doing a great job already (go you), but now what?!
It’s only after we truly accept that JUST being alive is fulfilling our purpose, that we can sit back and think, “If I realize I don’t HAVE to do anything and that I’m already 100% complete, what do I WANT to do? How do I WANT to live?“ KNOWING that this goal will not complete you and make you so much happier. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So why shoot for anything at all you may ask? A few reasons:
1. To see what we are truly capable of!
2. Keeps us from sleepwalking (or Netflixing) our lives away!
3. For the pure FUN of it
We get to CHOOSE a purpose that matters to us and DECIDE how we’ll create meaning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How great is that?!
